Background

Following the launch of Dallas County Promise, the Commit Partnership wanted to develop a comprehensive resource that could more directly connect students with partnership-affiliated study and training programs that lead to living-wage careers in high demand across the greater Dallas area.

Approach

With support from Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas, NVision developed CollegeWorks, responding to the needs of Dallas County Promise partner institutions, each of whom had unique goals, and to the needs of students looking for resources that not only provide them with college and career options but also help them more easily and successfully chart their individual college-to-career journeys. The cohesive, multi-faceted program offers students information on high-demand careers and then connects them to educational partners that provide affordable academic and training programs for these careers. On the website, school administrators, counselors, parents, and students can find information on careers, degrees, training, and scholarships, plus planning resources – all in one spot. Additional resources include checklists for students in grades 8-12, multi-media content on different careers, and virtual college and career fairs, as well as a marketing toolkit for school district use.
